Coming to a close

The semester’s almost over. Thank god. I still have one more year to go. I cannot wait to be done and graduate. Although, I am definitely not ready for the real world. I don’t even know what I want to do in the graphic design world; posters, magazines, package design, web design. I feel like I have learned so much and yet I’m still not where I need to be as a graphic designer in order to obtain a job in such a competitive field. Does anyone feel the same way? There are so many people in this field now and it seems as though we are all on different skill levels even if we’re in the same class. I know I should probably just put myself out there and try different aspects of this world in order to find out where I want to be and what fits me best.

I do. I am super nervous. Thankfully, I have a decent paying job, and I’ve been offered jobs in similar fields to what I do now that I’ve had to decline due to scheduling conflicts with GMU, so I have that to fall back on, but I have NO idea what to expect when I start applying for GD jobs. I expect my self-esteem to be crushed as my portfolio and resume get scrutinized for every little detail, so I’m not looking forward to it… I just hope I get hired somewhere decent! AH!

I don’t feel like I’ve learned enough to be “turned loose” either. I’m excited to be almost done with school, but at the same time I almost wish I could stay longer and keep taking all the classes to learn as much as possible. :/
