Rock Homes

If you thought home designs couldn’t get any more natural, then check this out.

These homes are built  around rocks and stones as part of their design.  Some of these homes are built on quarries, mountainside and even lava fields.  They’re cost-effective since they incorporate the stones and boulders  into the home instead of removing them.  It’s a lot different than your average home and looks aesthetically pleasing.  I think building a home around the natural elements can be environmentally friendly. Looking at the inside of the house makes you feel like you’re a part of the environment.  The structure seems like it can withstand a tornado but not sure about an earthquake though.

I think these homes are beautiful and adding natural elements such as stones or rocks give them more zen-like feelings and a calm atmosphere. In my hometown overseas, there is a restaurant that was built around a huge Oak tree that the owners refused to move when it was younger. I remember people complimenting on how it made them feel closer to the environment and happy, and I feel these homes convey the same type of air. I only hope these homes are built in warmer areas, otherwise the winters will get very chilly rather quickly!!

These are absolutely amazing and inspiring to me! To be able to bridge the gap between natural and manmade structure, is to me, where true beauty lies and this is a wonderful example. Thank you for sharing!
