Bringing Virtual Reality into the Art World

Haven’t you always wanted to be able to just draw with no limits? And wouldn’t you want to be able to step into that drawing? Well now with Tilt Brush, a virtual reality 3D painting software, you can. With Tilt Brush, you have access to a wide variety of fun and interactive brushes, and the entire room is your canvas. You can walk into your art and view it in a whole new way.

This VR helmets are also fantastic for exploring art as well. In a class last semester, we had a guest lecturer bring in his headset and we got a chance to play around with it. Some people chose to use Tilt Brush, while others stepped into the world of Van Gogh and explored the interior of The Night Café. I, on the other hand, ended up taking a slightly different route and ventured on the path of becoming a Jedi.

This technology can only grow from here, so be on the lookout for a future with experiences such as more VR art and maybe even movies created with the intent to be an interactive VR environment. Wouldn’t that be something?
