Project 1324: Can Art Change the World?

Can art change the world?

Adobe Systems (yes, the creators of our beloved Adobe Creative Suite) says yes. Project 1324 is an Adobe social impact initiative that works with leading youth art organizations and emerging creatives around the world to create a positive impact in their communities. An inclusive initiative, you don’t have to be an established artist or a designer to take part in Project 1324.

The process is simple. Outside organizations along with Adobe host Challenges that anyone can participate in—the goal being the creation of thought-provoking art. With each Challenge, anybody can view submissions and “appreciate” his or her favorite ones. “Appreciations” and project views are shown on the Challenge page to showcase the total impact and reach the Challenge has made on the online community.

One of the popular Challenges right now is the “Split/Image” Challenge, where creators are tasked with creating a split-image that “tells a new story not seen when looking at only half the image.” My favorite ones are shown below.

From simple photo challenges to high-stakes film fellowships, Adobe Project 1324 is a great example of how art can be used as “a force for positive impact.”
