Take Your Own Pictures

In this day and age, photography and graphic design go hand in hand. You can easily subscribe to an image database such as Getty Images and download all of your resources, but solely doing this limits your choices to what is provided by other people.

Taking your own photographs alongside subscriptions balances out your photographic needs. Capturing your own pictures shows not only shows that are multifaceted and adaptable to changing needs in the field, but it also shows that you are dedicated to your work and rely on no one but yourself to get the job done.

Snapping your own pictures gives you complete control over your process.Taking your own photos shows that you have an eye for visually engaging frames and knowledge in effective visual communication.

Taking your own photos speaks of your knowledge for what should be included and what should be omitted. Furthermore, you reduce all likelihood of displaying an image that the viewer may have already been exposed to. Whenever someone sees a stock photo that they’ve previously seen, the impact of the image is reduced due to the repetitive exposure.

Finally, doing your own photos gives a larger feeling of gratification, for you’ve created a product completely through your own means.

I agree, taking your own photos is much better. Personally, I know once I’ve seen a photo before it doesn’t make that much of an impact the second time around. Plus, it’s fun taking photos!

Hi Diana. Thanks for your post. I agree that taking your own photos is better. YOu get to take as many pictures as you want so you can have different varieties. Not only that, you get better and start improving your skills. Sooner or later you wont have to depend on stock images because you have taken better pictures. Thank you again for your post.

I agree that it’s important to take your own pictures! Aside from it showing your own artistic skills, it helps keep away from any legal troubles relating to copy right, etc. I also find it difficult to find an image of exactly what I want or I’m thinking of in my head so if I’m able to take it myself it makes it helpful for my designs and portfolio.
