Stranger Things: Iconic Design

Stranger Things, a Netflix original series, has been sweeping the nation. The series is not just a thrilling, 80’s inspired science fiction…The show also has a fantastic opening mark. Stranger Things has a brilliant animated, red neon logo. This visual identity for the thriller was actually inspired by Stephen King’s famous book covers. During the creation of the logo, the design evolved through several iterations until they decided on using a typeface called ITC Benguiat. The typeface was altered through contours and kerning. Letters were enlarged, overlapped, stretched, and re-shaped. Overall, this logo has become a classic and this opening title has fascinated fans everywhere.  Logo Generators have even been created, for fans to have their very own Stranger Things mark.

Super cool to learn a bit about the logo of one of my favorite TV shows. I admire the design of it as well. It suits the aesthetics of the show itself. I think the title perfectly embodies everything the show is.

So cool! Makes sense that they would turn to Stephen King as inspiration; it corresponds with the whole 80’s vibe of the show.
