What is behind an impeccable design? How does one go from point A to point B with their concept? It’s all in the process. An in depth design process is a strenuous, but necessary factor in a successful product. The first step in the design process would be the brain storming. Even with an idea of where the project might end up, some may not have a good place to start. A good resource for this would be the all-encompassing Pintrest. This platform reaches across all website and people to create the perfect mood board for any project. The next step would be sketching. Whether it is on the computer or on paper, getting the bare bones of the concept will help the juices flow. Sometime in between those two steps might be a few meltdowns after the recovery from that, the design should be on its way to the first critique from the client or peers.

Many times people outside of the art field don’t realize how much goes into a design. Coming up with an idea is easier said than done. I do feel, however, that the more I brainstorm and come up with ideas for a project, the easier it is in the future.

While it can be convenient to have a linear, structured approach to designing like the one that you discussed, I am a firm believer that some of the best design stems from free-association and non-linear thinking. While restrictions undoubtedly breed creativity, there still ought to be enough flexibility in any process to allow for spontaneous inspiration.
