The Importance of Product Packaging

What makes you want to buy a product? Is it the package design? Is it because you just simply need it? Or is it because you support the company? Regardless, a third of decision making is based on the aesthetics of the package design when looking at an aisle filled with the same product. Typography and color hold such importance for attracting the consumer. If the typography is too much or not enough, this could turn your customer away much faster than many would assume. First impressions is important, for as humans we judge within the first five seconds we encounter a new design or product packaging. Color plays a big role with attracting and drawing in your consumer to look at your product versus your competitors. A crucial element to a product design is essentially the icon for which the customer looks for. By having this, the customer has the ability to skim through the aisle quick enough but also look for a visual element/design of their favored product to minimize wasted time. Living in a quick paced society has changed the marketing game and keeps consumers alike on their toes.

This is so true! I do this with websites, too. When deciding between two restaurants with similar reviews, I’m more likely to pick the one that has a better website. Design can be very effective in terms of getting people to buy your stuff/come to your restaurant.
