Fun Bills

Have you ever stared at your money while you’re waiting to pay for whatever you’re buying and realized how boring the US bills look?

Of course the bills look a lot better now than let’s say 10 years ago, but compared to some other countries’ bills I think we can use an upgrade. Norway’s currency has pixelated images of Norwegian coastlines and they feature beautiful bright colors like orange, purple, green, red, and blue. Other than design, the material is also important. Australia and Canada both use polymer (plastic) which is more durable and can be recycled.

Since we are putting our first women on the 20 dollar bill, Harriet Tubman, I think we can also consider designing something more interesting and fun. So maybe spending money wouldn’t be so painful anymore since we have some nicer to look at.

The design of those pixelated bills are interesting to look at! Our American bills are not bound to change though! Realistically it cost a lot of money to make a whole new set of bills as currency, and what would we do with all the old bills?

I agree, I think that it would be cool to have a redesign of the US currency. However, if the currency was so drastically changed, people would treat money differently because of the connection to the past design would be gone and people would have to then psychologically reconceptualize their idea of the purpose of money.

Can I say not just the design is outdated?! I lived in China for over 12 years, all the paper money there have deterrent color on them, for example, the $5 and $10 bill are green and red, and they are different size too, so it is very clear which one is which. I often give people the wrong bill due to the dollars are the same color and same size. Yes we need an updates as soon as possible.
