Don’t Get Screwed, Always Have Protection has a very useful article that links directly to the design proposals that we are doing in class. It is a free graphic design contract, a useful template for beginning graphic designers who have no professional experience It lays out in order:

– estimated labor cots
– payment schedule
– reproduction of work
– rejection/cancellation of project
– completion/delivery of project
– acceptance of agreement

The contract protects not only the artist but the client as well from being screwed over. This, of course, is just a standard template and changes will have to be made from client to client but it is a good beginning freelance payment sheet for graphic designers. For my first professional job I did not have one of these contracts, but I would have felt much more secure had I made one.
