CGI Development

The development of animation is amazing. Over the years, companies like Disney have pushed the limits to see how well they can create an animated movie. Disney has been recently trying to create live action versions of their previous classics. For example, in the Jungle Book, with the help of CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) the creators made the once cute characters into realistic ferocious creatures. In some points of the movie, it you can’t tell that the animals are computer animated.

Although they have progressed with their CGI technology, they still have some shortcomings. The next movie Disney is coming out with is the live action recreation of Aladdin. At first I was defiantly excited until I saw the trailer. My biggest problem is how they made genie. They made the actor, Will Smith, look like a blue version of Shrek. I’m hoping this might just be the trailer and that they have a better version of him in the actual movie.

First of all, incredible choice of subject. Walt Disney definitely has made some less than savory decisions especially looking at this live-action remake of Aladdin. Its not enough to just convince us that his skin is really blue, but rather why did they choose Will Smith in the first place?

This topic is interesting because the live actions that Walt Disney creates, leaves me wanting more. Not all but some. Though I do agree that the CGI that they use is amazing. The CGI really brings the characters to life! As for the Aladdin live action, we can only wait and see if disney does the original justice.
