Miami Beach PD Spring Break Campaign

The Miami Beach Police have been in the midst of a major spring break crackdown this year, due to complaints from residents and an overwhelming amount of crime. While most of the tactics to deal with Spring Break 2019 started after an emergency Miami Beach Police meeting on March nineteenth, one tactic was rolled out much earlier. The Miami Beach Police Department used a marketing campaign this March with the slogan “Come on vacation, don’t leave on probation.” When I first saw the pole banner while walking around South Beach, I thought it was for an art event. After reading the slogan and seeing it was by the Miami Beach PD, I was impressed. The bright colored illustration and witty slogan is not something commonly seen by police departments. The widely distributed ad may not have stopped spring breakers from breaking the law… but it sure beats the electronic variable message signs we are used to seeing.

This poster definitely makes people look twice. This is good design, it has a way to relate to a younger audience, which is who the artist is targeting. I agree it beats the generic electronic messages.

I think the police designing posters like this is a great idea. It will bring more attention to the cause and make viewers give the poster a second look.

This is a great idea for the police department. There aren’t usually signs specifically from the police telling spring breakers to be safe. I like how they made the poster appealing and eye catching because it could have just had words on it.
