The other day as I was browsing the internet, trying to learn a little more about designs, I came across
the term “Sustainable Designs”. I’ve heard this term before but never really looked up what it really
stands out for. Sustainable designs are the techniques, processes and equipment that assist in reducing
the harmful, environmental and economical impact of the designs.
For most business people, the most important factor is to reduce cost and increase profit.
Unfortunately this is one of the reasons recently, we have been harming the environment more
than ever before. Fortunately, some designers are starting to do something about it; many of them
that work for companies like Apple, Kellogg’s and many others have been adopting some new designs
and ideas to either make the packaging of their products more efficient or designing packaging that is
biodegradable. I believe that every person should think of ideas like these, because the effect on the
environment is irreversible!

This was very informative! I have often heard the term “sustainable” design in classes, but I never really knew what it meant either until today. I knew it had to do with the environment, but I think it is really cool that companies/designers are trying to raise more of an awareness about the environment. We only have one earth, so we need to use our resources wisely!
