I know many people have fond childhood memories of Pokemon. I know I do. Additionally, I am a sucker for typography. I really love looking at type, and I really enjoy seeing slick designs when other people create them with typography. The other day, I was looking through a video game blog called Kotaku, and I stumbled upon this interesting image:

I think that the type placement in this image is excellent. The pokeball (for those of you who don’t know, it is the ball that is made of the red color in the image) is filled with type that flows well around it and fills it evenly. I also think that the texture used for the white background fits well with the aesthetic of the entire image.
Does anybody else like this piece, or this style of typography?

I think these style of word clouds can be interesting, but I don’t know if I necessarily like the way they laid the type out. It’s a great concept, though!
I’m a big fan of typographic layouts like this, but i think this one has some weak points. A lot of the type is too small. If they played with the placement better, they wouldn’t have had to rely on changing the sizes so drastically. Also, there are a number of empty spaces that could have been filled more effectively.
I am also a fan of this typographic style, but I think this is a very lazy version of it. The perspective is kind of off and there are a lot of gaps in place as well.
