On February 3, 2011 I attended the Robert Newman’s Visual Voices lecture. The lecture was on the “The Power of Magazine Covers”. He was such a strong and innovative speaker. He had the crowd in his full attention the whole entire time. He talked about how important the cover or a magazine is and how that can either “make or break you”. We don’t usually think about how much a cover of a magazine has an impact on us. It’s the front cover that draws our attention and therefore we end of being it.
He has worked all over the industry. He showed us many examples of his work. One thing that I liked was, when he showed us an older magazine cover and a similar cover next to each other. You can see the dramatic changes yet we still have the same elements in our design. I felt like he had a lot of experience and connections
