With this post I just wanted to bring to everyone’s attention a nifty and new (to me) website I heard about recently. Mike brought this to my attention last week during 313, and I have found it a useful tool when designing. Adobe created this website which is devoted to color palettes and pairings, and I have already spent several hours browsing the endless combinations.
Once you register, you can create your own color schemes, name them, and post them for the world to see. You can also find your favorites and use them in your designs, since each color is defined in CMYK language that allows you to mix the same colors precisely in the Adobe family of products.
The user-created names of the schemes are as equally amusing to me as the palettes themselves because they are both absurd and indicative at the same time. Random names include December Scarf, Citrus Dream, and Retro Lunch Counter.
So check out the site and have fun. I did…
