Peaceful Art

I came across a graphic design blog and noticed an article titled  “15 Harmless Weapons Made from Unusual Objects- Peaceful Art!”  I immediately had to click on the article to see what these images were about.  They were pretty comical and I began to read what the blogger had to say.  He talks about the danger and harm all these weapons cause, but at the same time suggests creative art that is displaying peace and non-violence.  The article shares different artists’ concern for World Peace by creating harmless weapons made from everyday objects.  I’ve attached a few for you to see!

Tuba Missile

Feather Knife

Bread Bare Knuckles

The harmless weapons they came up with were such good ideas. The banana colt was probably my favorite one.

I really like the concept of replacing the weapons with materials that are basically harmless. It defiantly get the point across and grabs my attention.

Interesting how the most violent weapons can be represented by the most non-violent objects. This is a very creative project, I would like to see how many other weapons can be conceptualized by passive objects.

I realize that this is supposed to be “peaceful art”, but I can’t help but think that because they are insinuating actual weapons that the art is a little less peaceful in its nature then it is claiming to be. Perhaps if the word “peaceful” hadn’t been used, I would think the artwork would be more successful.
